Wandering lost

I watched a video clip on Antwerp's fashion show, and one student said that fashion, in his opinion, is disgusting. Try denying this but is it not true that fashion revolves around popular culture, blind consumerism, an image-conscious attitude, and an obsession with the hyper-real? What are brands? Money-spinning names pushed forward by relentless advertising. It is repulsive.

Bah. I love Singapore and I've learned to appreciate its sub-cultures, the language, the architecture, and the food of course. But I can't help lamenting the loss. The Netherlands, the green and the blue, the art, friends I've made there, the things I know I'm missing out on. Meanwhile, what can I do?
