French for the soul

I've been speaking french to my neighbor's dog. "Bonjour! Comment allez vous?" It's still "vous", because we're not that familiar with each other yet. I'm sure french calms him down. He no longer barks at me. Otherwise, he must think me so strange he does not know how to respond. ("woof??")
